‘BSP chief used Ambedkar’s name to install own statues’ | India News

NEW DELHI: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan took on BSP chief Mayawati, alleging that the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister used Babasaheb Ambedkar‘s name to install her own statues in the state.

In a tweet, Paswan said, “Babasaheb to ek bahana tha, asal mein apna murti lagana tha (using Babasaheb was a ploy, the actual intent was to put her own statue.”

The Union minister attached some of the newspaper clippings to his tweet which mentioned the SC coming down heavily on Mayawati for spending money on statues of herself and her party symbol, elephant, across the state.

In sharp observations, the apex court also indicated that the former chief minister may have to pay for the expenses for putting these statues when she was heading the government.
