San Francisco 49ers There is going to be a big setback in the third week.
tight end George Kittel He will start his season against the Broncos in Denver on Sunday.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Friday that Kittel is “ready to go” after being dropped from injury reports. He suffered a groin injury in practice until the Niners season opener on 5 September.
Even though this is his sixth season in the league, Kittel is as excited as ever to be back on the field.
“I’m very happy,” Kittel said on Thursday. “Just a breath of fresh air, honestly. It’s great to be back on the football field with the boys. I love our performance staff. They do a wonderful job of getting us back together, but I wouldn’t be well.” Really seeing him for the rest of the season. So, really happy to be back to catch football, to actually pad, hit guys.”
Niners Lost Trey Lance for the Season last week, but Jimmy Garoppolo is filling in a familiar role, leading the Niners to the playoffs in three of the past four seasons.
They led San Fran to Super Bowl LIV in 2020, and last year’s playoff run included a win at Lambeau Field over the top-seeded Green Bay Packers before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship.
Keitel has not played a full season since 2017, missing half of the 2020 season and three more games last year.
But when he’s on the field he’s one of the most Major Tight Ends in the NFL,
His 17-game average since the 2018 season is 95 catches for 1,299 yards and six touchdowns. In 14 games last year, he caught 71 passes for 910 yards, six of which scored.
The last time Kittel played Danverso In 2018, he took seven catches for 210 yards and one touchdown.
