Paul Wesley and woman Ines de Ramón ended it after more than three years tie the knot.

A representative for the couple exclusively told PEOPLE “they have split up” and have been living apart for several months.

“The decision to separate is mutual and was made five months ago. They are asking for privacy at this time,” the spokesman said.

That Vampire Diaries alum, 40, was first romantically linked to Ramón, 29, a jewelry professional, in June 2018, when they were seen holding hands after a dinner in New York City. she made their relationship official on Instagram next month at a wedding in Montauk with friends Jessica Szohr and Nina Dobrev.

The pair were later spotted in what appeared to be matching wedding rings at another outing in February 2019. Dobrev, 33, apparently confirmed the message during a podcast appearance in June, when she referred to Ramon as Wesley’s “wife.”

“We’re connected a lot. We’re really good friends. i love his wife It’s so funny how time changes everything because I never thought he would be one of my best friends,” Dobrev said at the time.

Wesley spoke to PEOPLE for the 2020 Sexiest Man Alive Edition about quarantine and living at home with Ramon and her dog Greg during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m in a fortunate position to be able to take a break and it was so important for me to do that,” Wesley said. “For me, I reset. I recalibrated myself. I kind of realized what was important to me and reprioritized my life.”
